Lend A Helping Hand Program

The LAAH Program is designed to assist breast cancer patients, as well as, patients with other women’s cancers and their families to cope up with major life challenges.

We provide assistance with daily needs such as, housekeeping, childcare, massage therapy, salon services, transportation to medical appointments and financial assistance procuring  wigs and prostheses. This program is offered to patients of breast cancer and other women’s cancers who reside within the township of islip. It is our goal that patients and their families have some relief from some daily pressures while recovering from surgery and/or undergoing chemotherapy/radiation.

Can Survive Program

This program is designed to provide support and resources to breast cancer and other women’s cancer patients facing surgery.

The Patient is provided with a tote bag containing materials tp prepare them and aid them during this stressful period.

Materials such as pesonal items, books, meditation tapes and various resource guides are included.

LAHH volunteer will provide a follow up phone call to allow the patient the opportunity to articulate their feelings, needs and concerns and to be a resource guide for them.

Support Groups

Support Group meets once a month at the Bay Shore Library. The group will allow the breast cancer client to express their feelings and concerns in a compassionate atmosphere, and give them coping skills for their healing journey.
